Improving your brain power is the secret to living a life you've always wanted. Imagine what you could do with more brain power. I mean, really think about it! The list is endless! But my favorite by far is being able to live a more productive and prosperous life. Wouldn't you agree?
So, let's start with...
EXERCISE
Exercise improves your circulation, which ultimately improves circulation to the brain. Studies show that physical activity is a way to keep the brain healthy and our minds sharp. And we all know by now that exercise helps to prevent high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and stroke, all of which contribute to dementia.
How much exercise is needed to get that blood movin'? Well, you don't have to become a super athlete to notice improvement. A brisk half-hour walk 3 times a week should do.
With that in mind, let's skip on over to...
SLEEP
With all that exercise, you'll most likely get a good night's sleep. Studies show that we need a good 6-8 hours of sleep each night. And it's best to hit that pillow before midnight, preferably by 10 pm. Research is still being done, but so far it is showing that even small reductions in sleep can decrease memory function.
So, now that you've had a good night's sleep, let's see what's for breakfast...
NUTRITIOUS FOOD
You know the old saying, "You are what you eat"? Well, that goes for your brain, too. And one of the best ways to improve your brain power would be to increase Omega 3 fats found in a good quality fish or krill oil. According to Dr. Alex Richardson, "Omega 3s can improve brain function at the very simplest level, by improving blood flow."
But don't stop there. Eat foods in what I call their "natural state". By that I mean fresh, raw, and organic if you can find it, avoiding processed foods whenever possible.
If you simply cannot eat foods frequently in their natural state, then you need to supplement with a good quality vitamin. Find a natural standardized vitamin complex and standardized plant-sourced minerals, both with labeled sources. And while you're at it, make sure it has standardized phytochemicals with labeled amounts. Companies are moving to standardize their products, but many are not; so read the labels.
There are many more ways to improve your brain power, more than I have the space for here. But the most important and often overlooked are monosaccharides.
Mono...what?
SUPER SUGARS
No, we're not talking table sugar here. Monosaccharides (glyconutrients) are not vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats, herbs, enzymes or homeopathic drugs. They are a particular blend of polysaccharides and starches that mix with proteins and fats to form a bridge for our cells to properly communicate.
Yes, communicate. Without them, your cells would not be able to "talk" to each other. That simple communication is vital to your bodily functions, from immune defense and organ function to thinking and brain power! Ingesting monosaccharides leads to improved cellular structure and function for every cell of the body.
These sugars are so vital to our health, that Mother Nature has made them available in mother's milk. Human breast milk contains five of the eight essential sugars and research continues to support the importance of breast-feeding. Growing evidence shows that these sugars improve immune function and brain development making them important for both short-term and long-term development.
Where can one find glyconutrients?
Not in a box of Fruit Loops! But you're on the right track. They are found in foods that are naturally ripened from a tree, vine, branch, or plant. So that would include fruits, but in the raw form, remember?
The problem is finding them. It is estimated our modern-day diet consists of just two of the sugars. (Remember there are eight.) That means that we are missing six everyday of our lives. And they are essential for proper cell-to-cell communication. (Is it any wonder why good health and wellness are on the decline?)
There are lots of reasons why all eight are not present in our diet from green harvesting to poor soil. So, how can we be sure we're getting what we need?
Supplement. It's that simple. When looking for a glyconutritional supplement, make sure it's patented. I was even able to find a high quality product with a 6-month satisfaction guarantee!
Don't settle for anything less when it comes to your health. Your brain power and life style are depending on it!
